How the orc name generator works
Orc names come from a bank of harsh openings (Gr, Kr, Zug, Drak, Ug) joined to blunt endings such as -ak, -ug, -ash, -oth and -rak. Male names usually end on a hard consonant. Female names often end on an open vowel, like -ka, -ga or -sha, which keeps them just as rough but gives them a different rhythm.
A filter removes unpronounceable runs, accidental real words and famous orc names from books and games, so the results feel original. Most names land at one or two syllables, because orc names are meant to be shouted.
Set Style for more: With a clan adds a clan such as of the Red Tusk, Half-orc pairs an orc first name with a human surname, Black Speech words joins two real words from Tolkien's orc language, such as ghâsh, fire, and goth, lord, and Gro- or gra- follows the clan-name pattern of the Elder Scrolls games. Turn on epithets for a deed name, like Bonecrusher or of the Broken Spear.
That is Quick mode: instant and unlimited. For something more specific, switch to Custom mode, set a few options and add a sentence of details. An AI language model suggests 10 original names, each with how to say it and a suggested meaning, and More like this gives you variations on any name you like.

Tips for choosing a good name
Keep it short enough to shout
Orc names are war cries. One or two syllables with a hard ending work best. If you can't bellow it across a battlefield, roll again.
Let the epithet tell the story
An epithet like Ironjaw or Tuskbreaker says what your orc did to earn respect. Pick one tied to a moment in the backstory and the other players will ask about it.
Soften it for a half-orc
Many half-orcs grow up among humans. Choose a name with an open ending like Lugnar or Nurnya, or pair an orc name with a human surname to show both sides of the character.
Check famous orcs before you publish
Readers know the big orc names from Tolkien and Warcraft. The generator filters out the best-known ones, but search any name you plan to put in print.
